We firmly believe that it takes more than facts to move people. The "Hello Plankton!" project translates knowledge into enthusiasm. We see this approach as having the potential to achieve a lasting social impact.
The origin: ¡vamos, simbiosis!
In 2022, a team of over fifty people from the arts, natural sciences and humanities put an innovative interdisciplinary approach to the test.
In the southern Spanish coastal town of Águilas, a three-week workshop entitled ¡vamos, simbiosis! (Let's go, simbiosis!) took place with the aim of reconnecting people with the sea through art and science and inspiring them to make changes for a sustainable future. "Hello Plankton!" is one of the many results that emerged from this pilot project.

Societal impact through interdisciplinarity
It has become evident that research alone is not sufficient to address complex societal issues such as loss of biodiversity and climate change. We believe that interdisciplinary communication and cooperation are the basis for creating a more sustainable future. We apply this in research, teaching and science communication to help establish a dialogue between science and society.
